Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Tray
Begin by powering off your Moto G8 Plus completely. Use the SIM eject tool or a paperclip to remove the SIM card tray from the device. This prevents potential damage to the SIM card during the repair.
Apply Heat to the Back Cover
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the back cover. This will soften the adhesive, making it easier to remove. Apply heat evenly for about 1-2 minutes.
Remove the Back Cover
Use a suction cup to lift the edge of the back cover. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and gently pry around the edges to release the adhesive. Work slowly to avoid damaging the cover.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery connector and use a spudger to disconnect it. This is a crucial step to ensure your safety and to prevent electrical damage during the repair.
Unscrew and Remove the Midframe
Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the midframe. Carefully lift and remove the midframe using a spudger or plastic opening tool.
Disconnect the Screen Assembly
Locate and disconnect the display cable from the motherboard using tweezers. Ensure you handle the connectors with care to avoid damage.
Remove the Broken Screen
Apply heat to the front of the device to soften the adhesive holding the screen. Use a suction cup and plastic opening tools to carefully lift and detach the broken screen from the frame.
Install the New Screen
Clean the frame using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove any adhesive residue. Align the replacement screen and connect the display cable. Secure the screen with adhesive strips or double-sided tape.
Reassemble the Device
Reconnect the battery connector and reattach the midframe. Secure it with screws and then press the back cover into place, ensuring it adheres properly.
