Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Begin by powering off your Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite. Use the SIM card removal tool to eject the SIM card tray and remove it from the device. This prevents any potential damage to the SIM card during the repair.
Heat and Loosen the Back Cover
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to apply heat evenly around the edges of the back cover for 2-3 minutes. This softens the adhesive, making it easier to remove. Be careful not to overheat the device.
Remove the Back Cover
Once the adhesive is warm, use a suction cup to lift a corner of the back cover. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and gently work your way around the edges to release the adhesive. Lift the back cover off carefully.
Disconnect the Battery and Remove Internal Screws
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove all screws securing the midframe. Carefully disconnect the battery connector using a spudger to prevent any electrical shorts during the repair.
Remove the Old Screen
Apply heat to the front of the phone to soften the adhesive holding the screen. Use a suction cup to lift the screen slightly, and insert a plastic opening tool to separate the screen from the frame. Gently pry it away, being careful of the ribbon cables.
Install the New Screen
Clean the frame where the new screen will sit using a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol. Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges. Carefully connect the ribbon cables of the new screen before placing it onto the frame.
Reassemble the Phone
Reconnect the battery connector and replace the midframe screws. Align the back cover and press it firmly to reattach it. If necessary, apply gentle heat to ensure the adhesive bonds well.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device and test the new screen for functionality. Ensure that the touch screen responds correctly and that the display is clear. Reinsert the SIM card tray once testing is complete.
