Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card Tray
Begin by powering off your Moto G8 completely. Use the SIM eject tool or a paperclip to remove the SIM card tray from the device. This will prevent any damage to the SIM card and allow easier access to the phone's internal components.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This softens the adhesive holding the screen in place. Move the heat source in a circular motion around the edges for about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to overheat or focus too long on one spot.
Separate the Screen from the Frame
Place a suction cup on the lower part of the screen to lift it slightly. Insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and the frame, gently prying the screen away. Work your way around the device to completely detach the screen. Take care to avoid damaging the home button and cables.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Once the screen is lifted, carefully disconnect the display cables using a spudger. This will free the screen from the main body of the phone. Take note of how the cables are connected for easier reassembly.
Prepare the New Screen
Unpack your replacement screen and remove any protective films. Apply adhesive strips or glue around the edges of the screen to ensure it will stick properly to the frame. Make sure the adhesive is evenly distributed.
Connect the New Screen
Carefully connect the display cables from the new screen to the main body of the phone. Ensure each connection is secure and matches the original setup.
Attach the New Screen
Align the new screen with the frame and gently press it into place. Ensure all edges are secure and the screen is flush with the frame. If necessary, use the heat gun briefly to help the adhesive set.
Reinsert the SIM Card Tray and Power On
Reinsert the SIM card tray back into the phone. Power on the device to test the new screen for responsiveness and display quality. Ensure everything functions correctly before completing the repair.
Final Check and Clean-Up
Check all functionalities of the phone, including touch response and display clarity. Clean up any fingerprints or smudges from the screen. Dispose of old parts and tools safely.
