Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button until the power menu appears. Select 'Power Off' to completely shut down your Moto G85. This ensures your safety and prevents data loss during the repair.
Remove the Back Cover
Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry around the edges of the back cover. Carefully lift the cover off the device, taking care not to damage any clips or connectors.
Unscrew and Remove the Midframe
Using the Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove all screws securing the midframe. Use a plastic opening tool to lift and remove the midframe, which covers the battery and other components.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery connector on the motherboard. Use a spudger to gently pry up the connector, disconnecting the battery to avoid any power running through the device during the screen replacement.
Detach the Display Connector
Use the spudger to carefully disconnect the display cable from the motherboard. This connector is usually located near the side of the device.
Remove the Old Screen
Gently heat the edges of the screen with a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the adhesive. Use a suction cup to lift the screen slightly and insert a plastic opening tool to separate the screen from the frame. Carefully work your way around the edges until the screen is fully detached.
Install the New Screen
Place the new screen in position and connect the display cable to the motherboard connector. Ensure the screen is aligned properly. Apply adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges to secure the new screen in place.
Reassemble the Device
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard. Carefully position the midframe back over the components and secure it with screws. Snap the back cover onto the device, ensuring all clips are engaged.
