Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Tray
Begin by powering off your Moto G9 Play completely. Use the SIM ejector tool to remove the SIM card tray from the device. This will prevent any damage to the SIM card during the repair process.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Be careful not to overheat the device, as this could cause damage.
Detach the Screen
Place a suction cup on the screen near the edge and gently pull to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work it around the edges to loosen the screen. Avoid using metal tools which can scratch or damage the device.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Once the screen is loose, carefully open it like a book from one side. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the shield plate covering the display connectors. Carefully disconnect the ribbon cables using a spudger.
Remove the Old Screen
With the cables disconnected, you can now fully remove the old screen. Be gentle to avoid damage to internal components.
Install the New Screen
Take your new replacement screen and carefully connect the ribbon cables. Reattach the shield plate and secure it with screws. Ensure the connections are secure to avoid display issues.
Secure the New Screen
Align the new screen with the frame and press it into place. Use adhesive strips around the edges to secure the screen firmly. Ensure there are no gaps.
Reinsert SIM Tray and Power On
Reinsert the SIM card tray into its slot. Power on the device to test the new screen. Ensure touch functionality and display are working correctly before concluding the repair.
