Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Hold down the power button and select 'Power Off' to completely turn off your Moto G9. Confirm that the device is fully powered down before proceeding.
Remove the Back Cover
Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry off the back cover of the phone. Start at one corner and work your way around the edges. Be careful not to crack the cover or damage any components.
Detach the Battery Connector
Using a spudger, carefully disconnect the battery connector to prevent any power flow while you work. This is an important step to prevent short circuits.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to apply heat evenly around the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Be cautious not to overheat and damage the components.
Remove the Damaged Screen
Place a suction cup near the top of the screen and gently pull up to create a gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and slide it around the edges to separate the screen from the body. Carefully lift the screen away from the device.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Use tweezers to disconnect the screen cables from the motherboard. Take note of their positions for reassembly. Ensure all connectors are fully detached before removing the screen completely.
Install the Replacement Screen
Connect the new screen to the motherboard by attaching the cables in their respective slots. Confirm that each connector is securely in place.
Secure the Screen with Adhesive
Apply adhesive strips or tape around the edges of the new screen. Carefully align the screen with the phone's body and press it into place. Ensure a tight fit to prevent future detachment.
Reattach the Battery Connector
Reconnect the battery connector to restore power to the device. Double-check the connection to ensure it is secure.
Reassemble the Phone
Snap the back cover onto the phone, ensuring all clips are secured. Power on the device to test the new screen's functionality and ensure that all features are working correctly.
