Follow these 7 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button on your OnePlus 6 until the power menu appears. Tap 'Power Off' to turn off your device completely before proceeding with the repair.
Remove the Back Cover
Use the pentalobe screwdriver to remove the screws at the bottom of the device. Apply heat with a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive around the edges of the back cover. Gently use a plastic opening tool to pry open the back cover, starting from the bottom edge. Be patient and work your way around the device to avoid cracking the back glass.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the back cover is removed, use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to unscrew the screws securing the battery connector shield. Remove the shield and use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector. This step ensures your safety and prevents short circuits during the repair.
Remove the Old Screen
Carefully disconnect the display connector using a spudger. Apply heat around the edges of the screen using a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen the adhesive. Use a suction cup to gently lift the screen, then insert a plastic opening tool to carefully pry off the screen from the frame. Be cautious of any remaining adhesive and work slowly to avoid damaging the frame.
Install the New Screen
Clean the frame of your OnePlus 6 with isopropyl alcohol to remove any residue. Place pre-cut adhesive tape around the edges of the frame. Carefully align and connect the new screen's connector to the motherboard. Place the new screen onto the frame, ensuring it is properly aligned and securely adhered.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery connector using a spudger. Reattach the battery connector shield and secure it with screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Ensuring the battery is properly connected is crucial for device functionality.
Reattach the Back Cover
Carefully align the back cover with the frame. Press down around the edges to ensure the adhesive sticks well. Reinsert the screws at the bottom using the pentalobe screwdriver to secure the back cover in place.
