Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Begin by powering off your OnePlus One completely. Once the device is off, use a SIM eject tool to remove the SIM card tray from the side of the phone.
Remove Back Cover
Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry around the edges of the back cover to release the clips. Carefully lift the back cover away from the phone.
Unscrew and Remove Midframe
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the screws securing the midframe. There are typically around 16 screws. Once all screws are removed, use a plastic opening tool to gently separate the midframe from the phone.
Disconnect Battery Connector
Locate the battery connector on the motherboard and use a spudger to carefully disconnect it. This is an important step to ensure safety during the repair.
Remove Display Assembly
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the front display. This will soften the adhesive. Use a suction cup to lift the screen slightly, then insert a plastic opening tool to carefully separate the screen from the body of the phone. Proceed slowly to avoid damaging the cables.
Install New Display
Once the old screen is removed, position the new display assembly onto the phone. Ensure all connectors align correctly. Press down gently to secure the screen in place.
Reconnect Battery and Reassemble
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard. Reattach the midframe by aligning it properly and securing it with the screws removed earlier. Snap the back cover back into place.
Power On and Test
Reinsert the SIM card and power on the device. Check the new screen for proper functionality, ensuring the touch sensitivity and display quality are as expected.
