Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Before starting the repair, ensure your Samsung Galaxy S20 is completely powered off. Press and hold the power button, then select 'Power Off' from the menu. Wait until the screen is completely black.
Remove the Back Cover
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to evenly heat the edges of the back cover. This will soften the adhesive holding it in place. Carefully insert a plastic opening tool and use a suction cup to gently lift the cover. Slide the opening tool around the edges to separate the cover from the phone body.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the back cover is removed, use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the protective cover over the battery connector. Carefully lift and remove this cover. Use a plastic spudger to gently disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard.
Remove the Old Display
Heat the edges of the front screen using the heat gun or hair dryer to loosen the adhesive. Use a suction cup to lift the screen slightly and insert a plastic opening tool. Slowly work your way around the edges, being careful not to damage the internal components. Once the screen is loose, gently lift it off the device.
Prepare the Surface for the New Screen
Use a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol to clean any adhesive residue from the edges of the phone frame. Ensure the surface is clean and dry for the new adhesive to bond effectively.
Install the Replacement Screen
Attach new adhesive strips or apply double-sided adhesive tape along the edges of the phone frame. Align the replacement screen with the frame and gently press down to secure it. Ensure the screen is properly seated and the edges are flush with the phone body.
Reconnect the Battery and Test
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard using the spudger. Replace the protective cover and secure it with screws. Power on the device to test the new screen’s functionality. Ensure it responds to touch and displays correctly.
Reattach the Back Cover
Reapply heat to the edges of the back cover if necessary to soften the adhesive. Position the cover on the phone and press down firmly around the edges to secure it. Ensure there are no gaps and the cover is firmly attached.
