Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove the Back Cover
Begin by powering off your Kindle Fire 7 completely. Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry around the edges of the back cover. Carefully work your way around the device until the back cover pops off. Be gentle to avoid cracking the plastic.
Disconnect the Battery
Using a small Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws securing the battery connector. Use a plastic spudger to gently disconnect the battery from the motherboard. This step is crucial to prevent any electrical shorts during the screen replacement.
Remove the Old Screen
Apply gentle heat around the edges of the screen using a heat gun or hairdryer. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen. Use a suction cup to gently lift the screen while using a plastic spudger to separate it from the frame. Be careful not to damage the underlying cables.
Detach the Display Cables
Once the screen is loosened, carefully flip it to access the display cables. Use tweezers to gently disconnect the cables from the motherboard. Take note of their positions to make reassembly easier.
Prepare the New Screen
Unpack the replacement screen and remove any protective films. Ensure the new screen is clean and free from fingerprints or dust. Apply adhesive strips or double-sided tape to the frame where the old screen was attached.
Attach the New Screen
Carefully connect the display cables from the new screen to the motherboard using tweezers. Ensure a secure connection. Align the screen with the frame and gently press it into place over the adhesive strips.
Reconnect the Battery and Test
Reconnect the battery to the motherboard using the previously removed screws. Power on the device to test the new screen functionality. Ensure the touch and display are working correctly before sealing the device.
Reattach the Back Cover
Once the new screen is confirmed to be working, align the back cover with the device and gently press it back into place. Ensure all the clips are securely fastened.
