Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button, then slide to power off the iPad 8. Wait for the device to completely shut down before proceeding.
Heat the Screen Edges
Use a heat gun or iOpener to gently heat the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Move the heat source evenly around the edges for about 2-3 minutes, being careful not to overheat any area.
Remove the Broken Screen
Use a suction cup to lift the screen slightly, then insert a plastic opening tool to gently pry around the edges. Carefully work your way around the screen, releasing the adhesive. Avoid using metal tools to prevent scratching.
Disconnect the Battery
After opening the device, locate the battery connector and use a spudger to disconnect it. This step is critical to avoid short circuits.
Remove the Screen Connectors
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws securing the display cable bracket. Carefully disconnect the display cables using a plastic spudger.
Transfer Necessary Components
If applicable, transfer the home button and any other components from the old screen to the new one. Handle these components carefully to avoid damage.
Install the New Screen
Connect the display cables to the new screen. Reattach the display cable bracket and secure it with screws. Carefully align the new screen with the iPad frame.
Reattach Battery Connector
Reconnect the battery connector using a spudger. Ensure it is properly seated to prevent power issues.
Secure the New Screen
Apply new adhesive strips around the frame of the iPad. Carefully press the new screen into place, ensuring it is securely attached. Wipe the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints.
Test the Device
Power on the iPad and test the new screen for responsiveness and display quality. Ensure all functions, including touch and home button, work correctly.
