Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Prepare the iPad
Completely power off your iPad Air 1. Remove any cases or covers. Place the iPad on a soft surface like a microfiber cloth to prevent scratches.
Heat and Loosen the Adhesive
Use an iOpener or heat gun to gently heat the edges of the iPad. This softens the adhesive securing the screen. Be careful not to overheat, as excessive heat can damage internal components.
Remove the Front Panel
Apply a suction cup near the edge of the screen. Gently lift to create a gap and insert a plastic opening tool to separate the adhesive. Carefully work your way around the edges, taking care to avoid damaging the cables underneath.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is lifted, locate the battery connector. Use a spudger to gently disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical shorts during the repair.
Disconnect the Display Cables
Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove screws securing the cable connector shield. Carefully lift the shield and disconnect the display cables using a spudger.
Remove the Old Screen
With the display cables disconnected, gently lift the screen away from the iPad body. Set aside the old screen safely.
Install the New Screen
Position the new screen and reconnect the display cables. Ensure they are seated properly and replace the cable connector shield, securing it with screws.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery by aligning and pressing the connector back into place. Ensure it is securely attached.
Seal the iPad
Remove any old adhesive residue using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Apply new adhesive strips around the frame of the iPad and press the new screen firmly into place.
Test the New Screen
Power on the iPad and test the new screen's functionality. Check for touch responsiveness and display quality. Ensure everything is working correctly before finalizing the repair.
