Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Remove SIM Card
Begin by powering off your iPad Air 13 completely. Use the SIM eject tool or a paperclip to remove the SIM card tray and set it aside in a safe place. This prevents any possible damage to the SIM card during the repair.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use an iOpener or a heat gun to gently heat the edges of the iPad screen. This softens the adhesive holding the screen in place. Be careful not to overheat the device, and keep the heat source moving to avoid concentrating heat in one area.
Lift the Screen
Attach a suction cup to the screen near the edge. Gently pull up on the suction cup while using a plastic spudger to pry up the screen. Once you have a gap, insert a plastic opening pick to keep the screen separated from the body. Work your way around the edges to gently lift the screen completely.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery connector on the motherboard and use a plastic spudger to carefully disconnect it. This step is crucial to ensure there's no power running through the device during the repair.
Remove the Old Screen
Carefully disconnect the display cables connecting the screen to the motherboard. Use tweezers if necessary to gently release any clips holding the cables. Once all cables are disconnected, remove the old screen completely.
Prepare the New Screen
Remove any protective films from the new screen and apply the adhesive strips around the edges. Ensure the adhesive is placed correctly to secure the screen once installed.
Install the New Screen
Carefully align and connect the display cables of the new screen to the motherboard. Ensure each connection is secure. Gently press the new screen into place, ensuring the adhesive strips hold it firmly to the body of the iPad.
Reconnect the Battery and Test the Device
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard. Power on the device to test the functionality of the new screen. Ensure the display is clear, and the touch response is accurate.
Secure the Screen and Reassemble
If the new screen is functioning correctly, press down along the edges to ensure the adhesive is fully bonded. Clean any fingerprints or smudges with a microfiber cloth. Reinsert the SIM card tray.
