Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the iPad
Press and hold the power button until the 'slide to power off' option appears. Slide to power off the device completely before beginning the repair to avoid any electrical hazards.
Remove the Display Assembly
Use a heat gun or iOpener to gently heat the edges of the iPad. This softens the adhesive holding the display in place. Carefully apply the suction cup near the edge of the screen, and use plastic opening tools to pry around the edges. Take your time to avoid damaging the internal components.
Disconnect the Battery
Use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the metal shielding plate over the battery connector. Carefully lift the plate and disconnect the battery connector using a plastic spudger to prevent any power flow through the device.
Disconnect the Display Cables
Remove the screws securing the display cable bracket using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Lift the bracket and disconnect the display cables with a spudger. This will free the screen from the iPad body.
Install the New Screen
Carefully align the new screen with the iPad body. Reconnect the display cables to their respective connectors, ensuring they are secure. Reattach the display cable bracket and tighten the screws.
Reconnect the Battery
Position the battery connector back in place and secure it with the metal shielding plate and screws. Ensure the connection is firm but avoid over-tightening the screws.
Secure the New Display
Carefully place the new adhesive strips along the edges of the iPad frame. Align the new screen and press firmly to ensure the adhesive bonds securely, ensuring there are no gaps.
Power On and Test
Turn on the iPad by pressing the power button. Test the functionality of the new screen, including touch sensitivity and color display. Ensure all features are working correctly before completing the process.
Final Clean-Up
Use a microfiber cloth to wipe down the screen and remove any fingerprints or dust. Dispose of old components and cracked glass safely and recycle if possible.
