Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair

1

Power Off and Prepare the iPad

5 min

Begin by powering off your iPad Air 3 completely. Disconnect any cables and remove any cases or screen protectors. Ensure that your workspace is clean and free of static electricity.

2

Heat the Edges of the Screen

10 min

Use a heating pad or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the iPad. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Be careful not to apply too much heat, as this can damage internal components.

3

Remove the iPad Screen

30 min

Place a suction cup near the edge of the display and gently lift to create a small gap. Insert an opening pick into the gap and slide it around the edges to detach the adhesive. Use multiple picks to keep the adhesive from resealing. Exercise caution around the home button and camera area.

4

Disconnect the Screen

15 min

Once the screen is detached, carefully open it like a book, but do not fully remove it yet. Use a Pentalobe screwdriver to remove any screws securing the display connectors. Use a spudger to disconnect the display cables from the logic board.

5

Install the New Screen

20 min

Position the new screen and connect its cables to the logic board. Align the connectors carefully to avoid bending or damaging them. Secure the connectors with their screws. Ensure the new screen is aligned properly with the device.

6

Seal the New Screen

25 min

Clean the frame of the iPad using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove any old adhesive. Apply new adhesive strips around the edges of the iPad frame. Carefully position the new screen onto the frame, ensuring it is properly aligned and pressed down firmly to secure the adhesive.

7

Test the New Screen

10 min

Power on the iPad to ensure the new screen is functioning correctly. Check for responsiveness and display quality. If everything looks good, power off the device and complete the sealing process.

8

Final Assembly and Cleanup

5 min

Reassemble any remaining components and screws. Clean the screen and device exterior with a microfiber cloth. Ensure all tools and debris are cleared from your workspace.
