Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Disconnect Battery
Begin by powering off your iPad Air 5 completely. Use a Pentalobe screwdriver (P2) to remove the screws at the base of the device. Carefully pry open the back cover using a plastic opening tool. Disconnect the battery connector using a spudger to ensure the device is not powered during the repair.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the iPad's screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Be sure to keep the heat gun moving to avoid damaging any components. Apply heat for about 1-2 minutes.
Remove the Broken Screen
Attach a suction cup near the edge of the screen and gently pull up to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully slide it around the edges to lift the screen. If necessary, reheat the edges to further loosen the adhesive. Be cautious of any flex cables connected to the screen.
Disconnect the Screen Flex Cables
Using a Phillips screwdriver (PH00), remove the screws securing the metal shield covering the screen connectors. Use tweezers or a spudger to disconnect the flex cables attaching the screen to the motherboard. Carefully remove the broken screen and set it aside.
Prepare the New Screen
Before installing the new screen, remove any protective films from the replacement screen. Clean the edges of the iPad using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to ensure proper adhesion. Apply the new adhesive strips around the frame of the iPad.
Attach the New Screen
Carefully align the new screen with the iPad and reconnect the flex cables to the motherboard. Secure the connectors with the metal shield and screws. Gently press the screen into the adhesive strips, ensuring a secure fit.
Reassemble the iPad
Once the screen is properly attached, reconnect the battery connector. Replace the back cover and secure it with the screws using the Pentalobe screwdriver. Perform a final check to ensure the screen is responsive and the device is functioning correctly.
Test the New Screen
Power on the iPad Air 5 and test the new screen for responsiveness and display quality. Ensure all functions, such as touch sensitivity and display clarity, are working correctly. If any issues are noted, recheck the connections and ensure everything is secure.
