Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Hold the power button until the 'slide to power off' slider appears. Slide to power off the device completely before proceeding.
Remove the Screen Assembly
Use an iOpener or heat gun to apply heat around the edges of the iPad Mini 2's screen to soften the adhesive. Carefully use a suction cup and plastic opening tools to lift the screen slightly, then insert the opening tools around the perimeter to detach the adhesive. Gently lift the screen, but do not fully remove it yet as it is still connected by cables.
Disconnect the Battery
Remove the metal bracket covering the battery connector using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. Using a spudger, gently disconnect the battery connector to prevent any electrical short circuits during the repair.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Locate the three screen cables beneath the display. Use a spudger to gently disconnect each cable. Carefully remove the old screen once all cables are detached.
Prepare the New Screen
Remove any protective films from the new screen. Attach the adhesive strips around the edges of the new screen to prepare it for installation.
Connect the New Screen
Align the new screen and connect the cables to the appropriate connectors. Ensure each connection is secure to avoid display or touch issues.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery connector using a spudger, then replace the metal bracket and secure it with the screws.
Attach the New Screen
Carefully align the new screen with the device's frame. Press down gently to adhere the screen using the adhesive strips. Ensure the screen is flush with the edges and securely attached.
Power On and Test
Power on the iPad Mini 2 to test the new screen. Check for display clarity and touch responsiveness. If everything is functioning correctly, the repair is complete.
Final Assembly Check
Ensure all screws are tightened and the screen is securely in place. Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove any fingerprints or smudges.
