Power Off the iPad Mini 3
Ensure the iPad Mini 3 is completely powered off before starting the repair to prevent any electrical hazards. Hold the power button and slide to power off.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Move the heat source in circular motions to avoid overheating any one spot.
Use the Suction Cup and Opening Tools
Attach a suction cup near the edge of the screen. Gently pull up on the suction cup while using a plastic opening tool to pry open the edges. Work slowly around the perimeter to separate the screen from the adhesive.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is lifted, use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal shield covering the battery connector. Gently disconnect the battery using a nylon spudger.
Remove the Old Screen
Carefully disconnect the screen's display and digitizer connectors using tweezers. Remove any remaining adhesive from the frame and clean it with a microfiber cloth.
Install the New Screen
Connect the new screen's display and digitizer connectors to the motherboard. Ensure they are securely fastened. Align the screen and press it into place.
Secure the Screen
Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges of the frame. Press the screen firmly to ensure it adheres well.
Reconnect the Battery and Test the Device
Reconnect the battery connector and secure the metal shield. Power on the device to test the new screen's functionality. Ensure touch sensitivity and display clarity are working properly.
Finalize and Clean
Once satisfied with the screen replacement, clean the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove any fingerprints or smudges. Ensure all parts are securely fastened and the device is functioning correctly.
