Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Before beginning any repair, ensure that your iPad Mini 4 is completely powered off. Press and hold the power button until the 'Slide to Power Off' appears, then slide to turn off.
Heat the Edges
Use the iOpener or a heat gun to gently heat the edges of the iPad. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Be careful not to overheat any area to avoid damage.
Insert the Suction Cup
Place a suction cup near the top edge of the device, just above the home button. Pull up gently to create a small gap between the display and the case.
Pry Open the Screen
Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully work your way around the edges to separate the screen from the adhesive. Use prying picks to keep the screen lifted as you progress.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is lifted, locate the battery connector. Use a spudger to gently disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues during the repair.
Remove the Display
Unscrew the screws securing the display connectors using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Carefully disconnect the display connectors using tweezers.
Install the New Screen
Connect the new screen’s connectors to the motherboard. Secure them with the previously removed screws.
Reapply Adhesive
Clean the edges of the iPad with a soft cloth. Apply new adhesive strips around the perimeter of the frame to ensure a secure fit for the new screen.
Attach the New Screen
Carefully place the new screen onto the device. Press down gently around the edges to ensure the adhesive bonds properly.
Test the Device
Reconnect the battery, then power on the device to test the new screen functionality. Ensure the touch screen and display are working correctly before sealing the device completely.
