Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Press and hold the power button until the 'slide to power off' prompt appears. Slide to turn off the device completely.
Remove the Old Screen
Use a heat gun or iOpener to gently heat the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Be cautious to avoid overheating. Once heated, use a suction cup near the edge to lift the screen slightly, then insert a plastic spudger to carefully detach the adhesive around the perimeter of the screen. Work slowly to avoid cracking the glass further.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is lifted, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws securing the battery connector shield. Use a nylon pry tool to disconnect the battery from the logic board to prevent short circuits.
Disconnect the Display
Remove any screws securing the display connectors and carefully disconnect them using tweezers. Set the old screen aside safely.
Prepare the New Screen
Carefully clean the frame of the iPad using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove any adhesive residue. Apply new adhesive strips around the frame.
Connect the New Display
Carefully align and connect the new display connectors to the logic board. Ensure they are securely connected before proceeding.
Reconnect the Battery
Reattach the battery connector shield and ensure the battery is securely connected. This step is crucial for the device to power on successfully.
Secure the New Screen
Align the new screen with the frame and press down gently to adhere the screen to the adhesive strips. Ensure that the edges are flush and there are no gaps.
Power On and Test the Device
Press the power button to turn on the iPad. Ensure the screen is responsive and the display functions correctly. Test all touch areas to confirm proper installation.
Final Assembly
Reassemble any remaining components and ensure all screws are tightened securely. Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove any fingerprints or smudges.
