Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Before beginning, ensure your iPad is completely powered off. Press and hold the power button until the 'slide to power off' option appears, then slide to power off.
Remove the Display
Use an iOpener or heat gun to gently heat the edges of the iPad to soften the adhesive holding the display. Carefully attach a suction cup to the edge of the display and use a plastic opening tool to gently pry up the screen, starting from a corner. Slowly work your way around the device, being cautious of cables connected to the display.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the display is lifted, use a Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal shield covering the battery connector. Use a plastic spudger to carefully disconnect the battery to prevent electrical discharge.
Disconnect the Display Cables
Remove the screws securing the display cable bracket using a Phillips screwdriver. Gently lift the bracket and disconnect the display cables using tweezers or a spudger. This will fully detach the display from the iPad.
Install the New Display
Carefully connect the new display by reattaching the display cables to the connectors on the iPad. Replace the bracket and secure it with screws. Ensure the connections are firm and secure.
Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the battery connector using the spudger and secure the metal shield back in place with the screws. This ensures the device has power once reassembled.
Secure the New Display
Remove any protective films from the new display. Carefully align and press the display into the frame, ensuring it sits flush. Use new adhesive strips to secure the screen around the edges. Apply even pressure to ensure a firm seal.
Power On and Test
Power on the iPad to test the new display. Ensure touch functionality works correctly and check for any display issues. If functional, proceed to clean the screen with a microfiber cloth.
Finalize and Clean Up
Once testing is complete, remove any remaining protective films and clean the device with a microfiber cloth. Dispose of old adhesive and broken glass safely.
