Follow these 10 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Ensure your iPad is powered off completely. Press and hold the power button, then slide to power off. Wait for the screen to go black.
Heat the Screen
Using an iOpener or a heat gun, carefully apply heat around the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Be sure to move the heat source in a circular motion to avoid overheating any specific area. This process should take about 2-3 minutes.
Remove the Screen
Place a suction cup on the screen near the edge. Gently pull up on the suction cup while using a plastic opening tool to pry the screen away from the frame. Work your way around the device, being careful not to insert the tool too deeply.
Disconnect the Battery
Once the screen is lifted, use a spudger to gently disconnect the battery by removing the screws holding the battery connector cover and prying the connector off the logic board.
Disconnect the Screen Connectors
Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws securing the screen connectors. Carefully disconnect the screen connectors from the logic board using a spudger or plastic tool.
Remove the Old Screen
Once all connectors are detached, completely remove the old screen. Place it aside carefully to avoid damage or injury from any broken glass.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen with the device and connect the screen connectors to the logic board. Secure them with the screws removed earlier. Ensure each connection is firm and secure.
Reconnect the Battery
Reattach the battery connector to the logic board and secure it with the cover and screws. Ensure the connection is snug to ensure proper power flow.
Seal the Screen
Apply new adhesive strips around the edges of the frame. Carefully press the new screen into place, ensuring it adheres firmly to the adhesive. Apply gentle pressure around the edges to secure the bond.
Test the Device
Power on the iPad and test the new screen for responsiveness and functionality. Check for any display issues or touch sensitivity problems to ensure the repair was successful.
