Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair

1

Power Off and Prepare the Device

5 min

Ensure the Surface Pro 2 is completely powered off. Disconnect all cables and peripherals. Place the device on a clean, static-free workspace.

2

Heat the Edges of the Screen

10 min

Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. This softens the adhesive holding the screen in place. Move the heat source evenly around the edges for about 1-2 minutes. Avoid overheating any particular spot.

3

Loosen the Screen

20 min

Use a suction cup to lift a corner of the screen slightly. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap to gently pry the screen away from the frame. Work slowly around the edges, being careful not to damage the internal components.

4

Disconnect the Screen

15 min

Once the screen is loose, carefully lift it to access the connectors underneath. Use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove any screws securing the screen connectors. Use ESD-safe tweezers to gently disconnect the ribbon cables. Take note of the cable positions for reassembly.

5

Remove the Old Screen

5 min

After disconnecting all cables, completely remove the old screen from the device. Set it aside carefully, as it may have sharp edges.

6

Prepare and Install the New Screen

20 min

Clean the frame using a microfiber cloth to remove any residue. Position the new screen and reconnect the ribbon cables using tweezers. Secure the connectors with screws if applicable. Ensure all connections are firm and correctly placed.

7

Attach the New Screen

15 min

Apply adhesive strips or double-sided tape to the frame. Carefully align the new screen and press it firmly into place. Ensure it is securely attached around all edges.

8

Test the New Screen

10 min

Power on the device to test the new screen for responsiveness and display quality. Verify that the touch functionality and display are working correctly. Reassemble any remaining components if necessary.

9

Final Checks

10 min

Inspect the edges of the screen to ensure it is securely attached. Clean any fingerprints or smudges from the screen using a microfiber cloth. Dispose of the old screen and any debris safely.
