Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Down the Device
Ensure the Surface Pro 3 is completely powered off. Press and hold the power button until the device shuts down. Disconnect any connected accessories.
Heat and Loosen the Adhesive
Use a heat gun or iOpener to apply heat around the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Move the heat source in a circular motion for about 2-3 minutes, ensuring even distribution of heat.
Pry Open the Screen
Once the adhesive is soft, use a suction handle to gently lift the screen while using a plastic opening tool to carefully pry around the edges. Insert plastic cards to keep the screen separated from the frame as you work around the device.
Disconnect the Screen Connectors
Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the screws securing the screen connectors. Carefully use tweezers to disconnect the digitizer and display cables from the motherboard.
Remove the Old Screen
Lift the screen from the device frame carefully, ensuring all connectors are detached. Place the old screen aside in a safe location.
Prepare the New Screen
Clean the frame with a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol to remove any residual adhesive. Align the new screen and attach the adhesive strips.
Connect the New Screen
Carefully reconnect the digitizer and display cables to the motherboard. Secure them with the screws removed earlier using the Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Secure the New Screen
Gently press the new screen into place, ensuring it aligns correctly. Apply pressure around the edges to ensure the adhesive bonds properly.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device to ensure the new screen is functioning correctly. Check for touch responsiveness and display clarity.
