Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Prepare Your Workspace
Set up a clean, well-lit workspace. Arrange all tools and materials within reach. Wear an anti-static wrist strap to prevent electrostatic discharge.
Power Off and Heat the Edges
Ensure the Surface Pro 4 is completely powered off. Use an iOpener or heat gun to carefully heat the edges of the screen. This softens the adhesive and makes it easier to remove the screen. Be cautious not to overheat, which can damage the screen or internals.
Separate the Screen
Place a suction cup near an edge of the screen and gently pull to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and slide it around the edges to release the adhesive. Use a spudger for additional leverage, if necessary.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Once the screen is loose, carefully open it like a book. Use tweezers to disconnect the display cables from the motherboard. Take care not to pull or damage the cables.
Remove the Old Screen
With the cables disconnected, remove the old screen completely from the device. Set it aside safely to avoid any broken glass hazard.
Prepare the New Screen
Take the new replacement screen and remove any protective films. Align the screen with the device and connect the display cables securely to the motherboard.
Secure the New Screen
Apply double-sided adhesive tape around the edges of the device where the screen will sit. Carefully align and press down the new screen into place, ensuring a secure fit.
Test the New Screen
Power on the Surface Pro 4 and test the new screen for functionality. Check touch responsiveness and display clarity to ensure the installation was successful.
