Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Prepare Your Workspace
Set up a clean, flat workspace with ample lighting. Gather all required tools and materials. Ensure your Surface Pro 7 Plus is powered off and unplugged from any power source.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Using a heat gun or hair dryer, apply heat evenly around the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Keep the heat gun moving to avoid concentrating heat in one spot. Be patient to ensure the adhesive is sufficiently softened.
Pry Open the Screen
Attach a suction cup near the edge of the screen and gently lift to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work your way around the perimeter to release the adhesive. Take your time to avoid cracking the glass further or damaging internal components.
Detach the Screen Connectors
Once the screen is free, carefully lift it to expose the internal connectors. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver and T5 Torx screwdriver to remove any screws securing the connectors. Gently disconnect the ribbon cables using tweezers.
Remove the Old Screen
Fully detach the old screen from the device. Clean the frame and any adhesive residue with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to ensure a clean surface for the new screen.
Install the New Screen
Carefully align the new screen with the device. Reconnect the ribbon cables to their respective connectors. Secure them with any screws removed earlier. Ensure all connections are firm and secure.
Secure the New Screen
Apply adhesive strips or double-sided adhesive tape around the frame. Carefully press the new screen into place, ensuring it is aligned correctly. Apply gentle pressure around the edges to secure it.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device and test the new screen for functionality. Check for touch sensitivity, display clarity, and any other issues. If everything is working correctly, the replacement is successful.
