Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Prepare the Device
Ensure the Surface Pro 9 is completely powered off. Disconnect any accessories or external devices. Place the tablet on a clean, flat surface to begin the disassembly.
Heat the Screen Edges
Use a heat gun or hair dryer on a low setting to gently heat the edges of the screen. This softens the adhesive, making it easier to remove the screen. Move the heat source in a circular motion around the edges for about 1-2 minutes.
Remove the Screen
Attach a suction cup near the edge of the screen. Gently pull up on the suction cup while using a plastic opening tool to separate the screen from the body. Work slowly around the edges, reheating if necessary, until the screen is free. Be cautious not to damage the cables underneath.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Once the screen is loose, carefully lift it from the device. Use a T5 Torx screwdriver to remove any screws securing the screen connectors, then use the spudger to gently disconnect the cables. Set the old screen aside.
Prepare the Surface for the New Screen
Clean any remaining adhesive from the frame using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Ensure the surface is clean and free of debris to ensure a strong bond with the new adhesive strips.
Install the New Screen
Carefully align the new screen. Connect the screen cables to the motherboard using the spudger. Secure the connections with screws using the T5 Torx screwdriver.
Secure the Screen
Apply new adhesive strips to the edges of the frame. Gently press the new screen into place, ensuring a snug fit. Use the heat gun again to slightly warm the edges, promoting a better adhesive bond.
Test the New Screen
Power on the Surface Pro 9 and test the new screen for functionality. Check for touch responsiveness, display clarity, and any other issues before proceeding.
Final Assembly
Once satisfied with the screen's operation, reattach any removed components, and ensure all screws and connectors are secure. Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove any fingerprints.
