Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair

1

Prepare the Device

5 min

Power off your Microsoft Surface Pro X and unplug any connected accessories. Place the device on a clean, flat, and static-free surface. Wear your anti-static wrist strap.

2

Apply Heat to the Edges

5 min

Use a heat gun to gently apply heat around the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place. Be careful not to overheat the device. Aim for 2-3 minutes of moderate heat.

3

Lift the Screen

15 min

Use a suction cup near the edge of the screen to create a small gap between the screen and the frame. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully slide it around the perimeter to loosen the adhesive.

4

Remove the Screen

10 min

Once the adhesive is loosened, gently lift the screen from the device. Be cautious of the display cables still attached to the screen.

5

Disconnect Display Cables

10 min

Using the spudger, carefully disconnect the display cables from the connectors on the motherboard. Note the position of the cables for reassembly.

6

Install the New Screen

10 min

Connect the new screen's display cables to the motherboard. Ensure the connections are secure and properly aligned.

7

Secure the New Screen

10 min

Carefully place the new screen onto the frame. Apply the adhesive strips along the edges to secure the screen in place.

8

Reassemble and Test

15 min

Press gently around the edges to ensure the adhesive bonds the screen to the frame. Power on the device to test the new screen's functionality. Check for touch responsiveness and display clarity.
