Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Ensure the Surface 2 is completely powered off. Press and hold the power button until the device shuts down. Confirm it is off by pressing the power button again and ensuring there is no response.
Remove the Broken Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Carefully use a suction cup to lift a corner of the screen. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and slowly work your way around the screen to detach it from the casing. Be patient and avoid using excessive force.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Once the screen is loose, carefully lift it to expose the internal connectors. Use the Torx T4 screwdriver to remove any screws and a plastic tool to disconnect the display cables from the motherboard. Take note of their arrangement for reassembly.
Clean the Frame
Use isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to clean any adhesive residue from the frame. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before installing the new screen.
Install the New Screen
Align the new screen and connect the display cables to the motherboard securely. Use the Torx T4 screwdriver to replace any screws that were removed. Ensure the connections are firm and the cables are not pinched.
Secure the New Screen
Apply new adhesive strips or double-sided tape around the edges of the frame. Carefully place the new screen onto the frame, ensuring it aligns correctly. Press gently around the edges to secure it in place.
Power On and Test the Device
Power on the Surface 2 to test the new screen. Check for responsiveness and proper functionality to ensure the repair was successful.
Final Assembly and Cleanup
Reassemble any remaining parts and perform a final cleanup of the device. Dispose of the old screen safely.
