Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Prepare the Device
Turn off your Surface Go 2 completely and unplug it from any power source. Place the device on a clean, flat surface to begin the repair.
Heat and Loosen the Adhesive
Using a heat gun or hairdryer, apply heat evenly around the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Maintain a safe distance to prevent overheating. This process helps to safely remove the screen without damaging the device.
Remove the Broken Screen
Place a suction cup on the screen near the edge and gently lift to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap and carefully work your way around the perimeter to separate the screen from the device. Be cautious of flex cables connecting the screen to the device.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Once the screen is loose, gently lift it to access the internal flex cables. Use a spudger to carefully disconnect the cables that attach the screen to the motherboard. Note the cable arrangement for reassembly.
Prepare the New Screen
Remove any protective films from the new screen. If not already applied, attach adhesive strips or tape around the edges of the new screen for installation.
Connect the New Screen
Align the new screen and carefully reconnect the flex cables to the motherboard. Ensure the connections are secure and properly seated.
Attach the New Screen
Gently place the new screen onto the device, aligning it with the frame. Press firmly around the edges to ensure the adhesive bonds securely.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device to test the new screen's functionality. Ensure touch response and display clarity are as expected before finalizing the repair.
Secure and Clean the Device
Once functionality is confirmed, press down firmly around the edges to ensure the screen is securely attached. Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove any dust or fingerprints.
