Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Ensure your Surface Go 3 is completely powered off. Hold the power button until you see the shutdown option, and then confirm to turn off the device completely.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. Move the heat source in a circular motion around the edges for about 1-2 minutes. This will soften the adhesive holding the screen in place.
Lift the Screen
Attach a suction cup to the corner of the screen and gently pull up to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap to begin separating the screen from the frame. Work slowly and carefully around the edges to avoid cracking the screen further.
Disconnect the Screen Cables
Once the screen is lifted, you will see the cables connecting the screen to the motherboard. Use a spudger to carefully disconnect these cables. Note their positions for reassembly.
Remove the Old Screen
Gently remove the screen completely from the device. Be cautious of any remaining adhesive or glass shards. Clean the edges of the casing with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to remove residue.
Install the New Screen
Place the new screen near the device and reconnect the screen cables using tweezers. Ensure each cable is securely attached before proceeding.
Secure the New Screen
Apply new adhesive strips to the edges of the device frame. Carefully align and press the new screen into place, ensuring it is properly seated and flush with the frame.
Test the New Screen
Power on the device to test the new screen. Ensure the touchscreen is responsive and the display is functioning correctly. If issues persist, double-check the cable connections.
Final Assembly
Once you have confirmed the screen is working, press around the edges of the screen to ensure the adhesive sets properly. Allow the adhesive to cure for a few hours before heavy use.
