Follow these 8 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Prepare Device
Ensure your Surface Go is completely powered off. Press and hold the power button, confirm shutdown, and unplug any attached accessories. Place the device on a soft, static-free surface to prevent scratches.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the edges of the screen. Move the heat source in a circular motion, focusing on the adhesive areas. Do not overheat or concentrate on one spot for too long to avoid damage.
Detach the Screen
Carefully place a suction cup on the screen and pull gently to create a small gap. Insert a plastic spudger or opening pick into the gap and slide it around the edges to separate the adhesive. Work slowly to avoid cracking the screen further.
Remove the Screen
Once the adhesive is loosened, lift the screen slightly. Use tweezers to disconnect the ribbon cables attached to the screen. Carefully remove the screen from the device, being mindful of any remaining adhesive.
Prepare the New Screen
Take your replacement screen and ensure it matches the model of your Surface Go. Remove any protective films and prepare the adhesive strips for installation.
Connect the New Screen
Align the new screen with the device and carefully reconnect the ribbon cables using tweezers. Ensure the connections are secure and aligned properly.
Secure the New Screen
Apply the adhesive strips around the edges of the new screen. Carefully place the screen onto the device, ensuring it is aligned and pressed firmly to secure the adhesive.
Reassemble and Test
Power on the device to ensure the screen is functioning correctly. Check for responsiveness and any display issues. If everything is working, you can proceed to reassemble any covers or attachments.
